Wellness and the layers of living well

What is wellness?

Wellness and the layers of living well . Living well and overall health is multi-dimensional. It’s where your physical and emotional states meet. What happens in the physical impacts the emotional, and the other way around.

That’s why we can’t treat health and wellness as though it’s only about how your body looks.

Wellness requires looking at things through a more holistic lens – even when it comes to you paying more attention to how every aspect of your life relates to how you feel overall.  Infuse the physical, social, environmental and occupational factors with your psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects.

In today’s modern world these different facets seem to be separated – the psychological is kept separate from the physical. Physicians will draw your blood and run tests, but they rarely ask about your daily life or ongoing stressors.

As a Mind-Body, Health & Wellness Practioner, I believe that it’s so important to take the time to notice how every layer of your life impacts the whole.

Most people assume that if you eat right, maintain a healthy weight and keep fit, you will be well.

These behaviors can provide the support structure for a healthy body.  But, the foundation for overall wellbeing is self-care and conscious awareness. It’s even possible to overdo healthy eating and exercise when you ignore the personal

Nourishment Vitality approaches every client with the understanding that wellness encompasses more than the physical; your body responds to the way you think, feel, and act.

There is a physical connection between what the mind is thinking and those parts of the brain that control what’s going on with the body

Learning to understand and accept your emotions – especially those unpleasant ones many of us try to escape or ignore – can make a huge difference in managing stress and balancing your moods, which directly impacts your physical state.

I always say “the only way out- is in” and I encourage my clients to go within so they can recognize what truly makes them feel fulfilled, and what leaves them feeling empty. Every negative belief upsets the harmony between mind and body.

Taking steps to develop healthy behaviors can have a positive impact on your physical and mental health so that you can elevate your mood and become more resilient.
